Sydney Airport’s hotels are close, and none of the transfers is complicated, but only one is free. The Aerotel is inside T1 and the Rydges is a three-minute walk across the road; the airport’s T-Bus between the terminals is free; the Travelodge runs its guests to the terminals for nothing; every other hotel uses the Sydney Super Shuttle at about AUD 12 to 15 per person, a AUD 10 to 35 taxi, or the walk to Mascot station. Aerotel and Rydges: no vehicle needed
The Aerotel is on the T1 arrivals level, so the transfer is a lift ride to check-in. The Rydges is across Arrival Court from T1, 181 steps from the check-in desks, and for the domestic terminals its guests walk to the T-Bus stop outside Arrivals Hall B and ride the free loop to T2 and T3, every 15 minutes from 5:30 am to 10:30 pm, about 10 minutes. Outside those hours the International Airport station two minutes from the door takes them to Domestic Airport for the reduced inter-terminal fee, or a taxi does it in 10 minutes for about AUD 20.
Travelodge: free one way
The Travelodge is the one Mascot hotel with a free ride to the terminals: the Space Shuttle bus leaves the hotel car park about every 15 minutes from 4:30 am to 11:30 pm and drops at both terminals, at no charge for hotel guests, with the free leg tied to direct bookings at times. The pick-up from the airport is paid, about AUD 10 per person from Bay 4 at T2 and Bay 20 at T1, more overnight, paid to the driver. Mascot station is nine minutes’ walk for the train without the airport fee.
Pullman, Stamford Plaza, Citadines Connect and ibis budget: the Super Shuttle or the walk
The Mascot hotels share the Sydney Super Shuttle, a timetabled minibus between the hotels and both terminals for about AUD 12 to 15 per person each way, roughly every 30 to 40 minutes between about 5 am and 11 pm, picking up at Bay 12 outside T1 and at the u-bend between T2 and T3; book through the hotel or online, and allow for a wait. The Pullman and Stamford Plaza are five to seven minutes’ walk from Mascot station, one stop from Domestic Airport; the Citadines Connect is 12 minutes from the station and 15 from the domestic terminals on foot; the ibis budget is a 10-minute walk from the Domestic Airport station and most of its guests walk. A taxi from T2 or T3 to any of them is AUD 10 to 15.
Novotel: shuttle or taxi across the river
The Novotel at Wolli Creek is 1 km from T1 by road but across the Cooks River, so nobody walks it with luggage. The Super Shuttle serves it for about AUD 13 per person, a taxi takes five minutes to T1 and about ten to the domestic terminals for AUD 15 to 25, and Wolli Creek station, 12 to 15 minutes on foot, is the fee-free rail option for the city rather than the airport.
Getting back for a 6 am flight
The curfew packs the first departures into the hour after 6 am, and the shuttles are at their busiest between 4 and 5 am. Book the Super Shuttle seat the night before, or use a taxi or rideshare from the hotel door, which at that hour costs AUD 10 to 15 from Mascot to the domestic terminals and AUD 25 to 35 to T1 and takes ten minutes. The Travelodge’s free bus starts at 4:30 am, and the ibis budget and Rydges guests simply walk. The trains do not help before about 5 am. Practical notes
Give the hotel your flight number and terminal when you book a shuttle seat, since the pick-up point differs between T1 and the domestic terminals. Keep AUD 20 in cash or a card ready for the Space Shuttle driver. Taxis from the ranks to the CBD are capped at AUD 60 since November 2025, but trips to the airport hotels are metered. Families with a pram and four bags are better off in a taxi than on the shuttle at any hour.
